Natural Holistic Ways for Health

What we eat is what we become. Find out about the latest research of how to mobilise our bodies to stay healthy.

The information presented in the following article is based on my own experience and searching the internet for medical research. Everyone is different and I would suggest you use your intuition and critical thinking in selecting which is right for you.

Clearing Emotional Issues

Unresolved emotional wounds from the past causes reoccurring emotional patterns whenever triggered. Just like a phobia for spiders will be triggered by spiders unless the cause of the fear is addressed. Emotions such as fear, anger, hopelessness, depression, grief etc leave low vibrations in the part of the body holding the emotion and weaken it over time creating an opening for illness or disease to start.

For help to clear emotional wounds contact Andy for high vibration energy therapy.

Reducing Stress

reduce stress

The effect of stress is releasing hormones that increase the heart and breathing rates so the muscles are ready to respond. In short-term situations stress can be beneficial to create motivation and help cope with potentially serious situations. Over the long term its called chronic stress and weakens the immune system ability to deal with illness.

Reducing stress can be through meditation or spending at least an hour engaging in a healthy creative activity, allowing all concepts of time go out the window. Examples are painting, dancing, writing, doodling, needlepoint, being in nature or whatever brings joy. A more lasting solution may be to identify and change the cause of stress, perhaps the type of work or a personal relationship.

Reducing Toxins and Pesticides from Food

Pesticides are routinely sprayed on fruit and vegetables which leaves a residue of toxic chemicals. Washing them in running water for 30 seconds while wiping them removes much of the toxic residue. But it is better to consume food that is organic and not genetically modified as much as possible. Perhaps some can be grown at grown home with love rather than mass-cultivated, so it has a different energy and completely pesticide free.

A systematic review in the British Medical Journal involving 9.8 million participants indicated an association between the consumption of ultra-processed foods and an increased risk of 32 diseases, including heart disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes, anxiety and premature death.

Ultra-processed foods such a ready-meals taste good and are often inexpensive. However, they usually contain ingredients that are harmful if consumed in excess, such as saturated fats, added sugar, salt and preservatives. They also contain less dietary fibre and fewer vitamins than unprocessed foods.

Ultra-processed food include vegetable oils other than olive oil that are process by chemical extraction and generate potentially harmful products called trans fats that are hard for the immune system to clear and should be avoided.

Improve Gut Health

gut health

The gut microbiome plays an important role in human health and influences the development of chronic diseases ranging from metabolic disease to gastrointestinal disorders and colorectal cancer. It can lead to inflammation locally and systemically, which can allow several different types of cancer to flourish. One thing seems is clear that for optimal health or to reverse already existing problems gut balance is a matter of profound importance.

For gut health Carolyn Williams a registered dietitian and culinary expert recommends focusing on unprocessed whole foods, particularly fermented foods and fiber-rich foods like vegetables and fruit. These gut-healthy foods typically fall into two groups: probiotics and prebiotics.

Adding probiotic foods daily is one of the best ways to boost overall gut health. Sauerkraut, cottage cheese and yogurt with live cultures, kimchi and kombucha are all whole-food sources of probiotics. Getting prebiotics is by eating plenty of vegetables and fruit. Most vegetables and fruit have fibre so regular servings of vegetables and fruits every day is important. Both prebiotics and probiotics are also available in tablet form.

Improve the Immune System with Intermittent Water Fasting

The cells of our body automatically cleanse and detoxify by eliminating accumulated waste products. If the body is unable to eliminate toxins fast enough compared to the amount of toxic waste coming in, cells start malfunctioning and the disease begins.

Intermittent water fasting is eating the normal days food in a 6 to 8 hour window and drinking water between the window. It has a profound effect on promoting immune system homeostasis in the clearing of damaged cells called autophagy which gives the body more time during the water fasting period to flush out toxins.

Drinking More Water

Ideally drinking at least two litres of water a day is important. This helps to flush out toxins from the body that has built up from the food eaten. Unfortunately, mains water is often contaminated by traces of medication, heavy metals or fluorine so filtering with a good carbon filter or similar system is needed.

Increase Vitamin D

When a person has vitamin D deficiency the body's cells become less efficient at carrying out processes such as growth and regeneration. Nearly every cell in the body has a receptor for vitamin D. This essential vitamin enhances calcium absorption, induces cell differentiation, initiates apoptosis, reduces metastasis and proliferation, and is antiangiogenic. Observational studies showed that low vitamin D was associated with cancer outcomes. It is also effective for killing cancer stem cells

Vitamin D can be easily obtained simply by going outside and absorbing some sunlight which is more effective than vitamin D supplements.

Increase Vitamin C

vitamin c

This is an essential nutrient, which means our body requires it to properly function. Among many its uses is repairing damaged tissue and helping the immune system to function properly. Research with Vitamin C was shown to reduce fatigue and attendant symptoms of sleep disturbances, lack of concentration, depression and pain. It can come as supplements or from orange juice or freshly squeed oranges.

The Power of Turmeric

Research has found turmeric aids in the management of oxidative and inflammatory conditions, metabolic syndrome, arthritis, anxiety, and hyperlipidemia. It may also help in the management of exercise-induced inflammation and muscle soreness, thus enhancing recovery and performance in active people. In addition, a relatively low dose of the complex can provide health benefits for people that do not have diagnosed health conditions. Most of these benefits can be attributed to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Curcumin the active ingredient of turmeric is difficult for the body to absorb and what is absorb is metabolised and cleared from the body very quickly. This is partly because curcumin has low solubility in water so combining it with an oil, fat-rich food or with freshly ground black pepper helps boost the uptake. Taking it tablet form on a daily with fatty food may be more convenient than preparing food with turmeric powder.

Reduce Sugar Consumption

Reducing the intake of added sugars can significantly enhance health and provide benefits like steady energy, reduced inflammation and a decreased risk of conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Unlike natural sugars found in fruits and dairy, added sugars offer little nutritional value. By cutting back on these empty calories can be eliminated and it supports a healthier lifestyle. Gradual changes will help make lasting improvements for a positive impact on well-being. ,

Added sugars come in many forms, including refined versions like white and brown sugar or corn syrup, more natural-sounding versions like honey and maple syrup, full-sugar soft drinks, biscuits, chocolate and sweets. Often it is hiden in many ready made meals. But no matter the form, the result is the same.

Cook in Coconut Oil

Numerous studies in the past decade have proven coconut oil to be a “good” saturated fat and incredibly healthy. Pure coconut oil is rich in lauric acid, a medium-chain fatty acid that is converted to monolaurin by your body. In fact, 50% of coconut oil is lauric acid, a compound usually found in human breast milk, which makes it one of the best food sources of this nutrient available. Lauric acid is beneficial in deterring parasites, bacteria, fungi, yeasts, viruses and inhibits cancer cell viability

Coconut oil also consists of 86.5% saturated fatty acids, 5.8% monounsaturated fatty acids, and 0% trans-fat. It is comprised of medium-chain fatty acids contrary to vegetable or seed oils that consist of long-chain fatty acids that are stored in the body as cholesterol, contribute to hardening of the arteries, and strain the pancreas and liver. Medium-chain fatty acids support the immune system through their antimicrobial properties.

Take Regular Exercise

Regular physical activity is associated with lower mortality, as well as with a lower rate of cancer recurrence. Regular exercise improves energy levels by boosting your body’s circulation and delivery of oxygen to the body cells. Over time, the heart, lungs, and muscles get stronger and work more proficiently and cancer cells do not thrive in a highly-oxygenated environment.

It also boosts the excretory system so that toxins and waste are removed more efficiently. The excretory system is comprised of your blood, lymph, bladder, kidneys, and intestines. The fewer the toxins in your system, the better you’ll feel overall.

Finally, exercise enhances the immune system (specifically the lymphatic system) preventing the growth and spread of disease-causing organisms in your body. A strong immune system is your best defence against cancer.

Having More Laughter

Research suggests that laughter triggers measurable, health-enhancing changes throughout the body. It decrease pro-inflammatory cytokines making it an ally in lowering persistent inflammation which is a factor involved in every chronic health condition from diabetes and arthritis to heart disease and metabolic syndrome. With each laugh inflammation is reduced, an essential step in disease prevention and reversal.

Laughter is more likely to happen in social settings than when you’re alone. So create more opportunities for shared laughter perhaps with children, or laughter yoga, or revisit your favourite funny memories as laughter isn’t just about the present it can come from reliving a hilarious past moment. Or have a playlist with jokes, stand-up comedy clips, or TV show highlights that make you laugh. A few minutes of laughter on demand can instantly shift the mood and improve health.

Summary

The best way to have good health is to make sure your body isn’t a hospitable landscape for illness and disease. This includes the food we eat and avoiding toxins, how we eat it, and having the right nutrients and vitamins. It also involves exercise and resolving stress and emotional issues. These are some of the easiest and most proven ways.
